Hearing impaired people receive information in Sign Language
Cluj-Napoca City Hall is the Romanian public institution with the most employees trained in Romanian Sign Language. 19 employees working in different departments of this institution, who have direct contact with the citizens, attended the beginners training in sign language under the coordination of Gelu Bogdan, the president of the Association. For 60 hours, Deaf and hard of hearing persons have introduced the employees into this language that is essential for those born deaf. The employees will go through further training for maintaining their skills. Since the initial training, all the hearing impaired persons who addressed the city hall received information in Sign Language. They were very happy to be given information directly in Sign Language, without having to call an interpreter. This project was part of the city strategy for improving the quality of services offered to its citizens.
